Hedgerows (Ancient Species-rich)

An ancient hedgerow is defined as one that was in existence before the enclosures acts between 1720 and 1840. Hedgerows are an important general habitat and a primary habitat for many species of concern throughout the UK.

Associated notable species
Mammals Bats, hedgehog, shrews, voles, dormouse.
Birds Dunnock, song thrush, linnet, bullfinch, tree sparrow, yellow hammer.
Butterflies Holly blue
Plants Alder buckthorn, barren strawberry, buckthorn, midland hawthorn, primrose, upright hedge bedstraw, violets, white bryony, wood sorrel, wood anenome, wood melick.
