Arable Field Margins

Arable land is the land used to produce crops, including temporary grassland less than 5 years old and set-aside land. Arable field margins are the land between the field boundary and the crop, also included in this habitat are farm tracks and unsown cultivated strips with naturally regenerated flora.

Associated notable species
Mammals Bank vole, shrew, harvest mouse, bats, stoat, weasel.
Birds Barn owl, grey partridge, skylark, lapwing, corn bunting, tree sparrow, linnet, bullfinch.
Invertebrates Grasshoppers, common butterflies, predatory beetles and spiders.
Plants Shepherd’s-needle, corn marigold, wild onion.
