Picture of bone needles found at Wetton Mill

Bronze Age bone needles found at Wetton Mill, Staffordshire

As they are fragile in the soil, the removal and study of bone and organic material must only really be done by an experienced individual who will take great care not to damage the most significant features.

Animal bones can be used to study the diet and animal husbandry practices of the people who left them to be found by archaeologists.
