Welcome to our online guide to identifying rocks, minerals and fossils. You can use the guide to identify your own specimens and to find out more about rocks, minerals and fossils and their uses. The guide mainly concentrates on specimens that can be found in the Potteries area, so if you have a specimen from further afield and can't find it here you might need to take it to a museum to be identified, or you could do some further research at your local library. Use the titles in the navigation bar on the left to find your way around, and enjoy exploring!

We would like to thank John Reynolds and the Earth Science Teachers' Association for the use of their material in producing this guide.
