Your fossil could be one of a range of different fossil plants. If you found it in the Potteries area it probably lived in a peat bog during the Carboniferous period, about 300 million years ago. If you want to try and identify your plant fossil more precisely, you could search under fossil plant in the Virtual Store, could take it to a museum to be identified or could do some further research in your local library.
