We also look after a book collection which ranges from general interest natural history books to very detailed scientific texts. These books are regularly used by museum staff, researchers and amateur historians and are invaluable in helping to identify specimens.
There is also a good collection of photographs in the form of 35mm slides. These images, donated by a range of individuals, are used for reference and are increasingly used on our websites, in the gallery and in publications.
The museum also has a range of scientific equipment including microscopes, dissecting and measuring equipment, a fume cupboard and a freeze-drying machine.
