Bucknall glacial erratic

This rock, which is near the junction of Beverley Drive and Malthouse Road, has been chosen as a Natural Heritage Site because of its geological importance. Glacial erratic are rocks which have formed outside the Potteries many millions of years ago and were picked up and moved by an ice sheet during the last ice age. When the ice melted it dropped the rock. This glacial erratic has been rolled a few metres from its original place to allow for the building of a new medical centre.
