Calcareous Grassland (Unimproved and Semi-improved)

Species-rich grassland occurring on limestone that has not been ploughed, re-seeded, or modified by the addition of fertilizer. This form of grassland tends to be much more diverse in grasses and plants than acidic grassland. A very large proportion of good quality calcareous grassland in Staffordshire lies in the Peak District National Park.
